Abstract

The elderly population requires greater attention from health professionals, as well as within the family when carrying out basic tasks. Home care, when done well, makes it difficult for infections and illnesses to appear, which can be worsened by hospitalization. Urinary tract infections are common in patients in this age group, worsening in cases of indiscriminate and careless use of diapers. The nurse has an important role in educating the patient and family, who are caring agents at home.
